Casting News - Renée Elise Goldsberry to Star in 'Girls5Eva'; Noah Galvin Joins 'The Good Doctor'; Plus 3 More Updates!

Casting News - October 1, 2020

ABC's The Good Doctor; AppleTV+'s Untitled Cecily Strong Comedy; The CW's All American & Legends of Tomorrow; and Peacock's Girls5Eva.

PEACOCK's GIRLS5EVA
  • Renée Elise Goldsberry will star opposite Sara Bareilles in the upcoming comedy created by Meredith Scardino. She won a Tony and Grammy Award in 2016 for her performance in Hamilton on Broadway. She also starred for two seasons in Netflix's Altered Carbon. And finally, she has recurred on CBS' The Good Wife, NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and CBS' Evil.
  • She will play Wickie, the glamorous, big-voiced star of the group back in the day. Her solo career hit a ditch, but she's determined to use this new opportunity to retake her rightful place as pop royalty.
THE CW's ALL AMERICAN
  • Chelsea Tavares has been promoted to series regular on the drama's upcoming third season. She has recurred on the drama throughout its first two seasons - appearing in 19 episodes overall. She previously recurred on USA's Queen of the South.
  • She plays Patience, Coop's (Bre-Z) girlfriend and a student at South Crenshaw. An aspiring musician whose star is on the rise, she has to fight to do her music, her way.
THE CW's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW
  • Adam Tsekhman has been promoted to series regular on the drama's upcoming sixth season. He joined the drama as recurring in its third season and has appeared in 33 episodes to date.
  • He plays Gary Green, Ava's (Jes Macallan) eager-beaver colleague at the Time Bureau. In the new season, Gary will not only be granted full Legend status but also explore his origin story, which is "even more bizarre than you would imagine."
APPLE TV+'s UNTITLED CECILY STRONG COMEDY
  • Keegan-Michael Key, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada will co-star on the upcoming comedy starring Cecily Strong.
  • Key (Key & Peele, Playing House) will play Josh, Melissa's (Strong) long-tern, pragmatic partner. He is the last person who wants to be stuck in the magical town of Schmigadoon.
  • Cumming (The Good Wife, Cabaret) will play Mayor Menlove, the welcoming mayor of the town with a secret (and a song) in his heart.
  • Armisen (Portlandia, Documentary Now!) will play Reverend Layton, the mild-mannered religious leader of the town.
  • Chenoweth (Wicked, Trial & Error) will play Mildred Layton, Reverend Layton's morally superior wife who is in everybody's business.
  • Tveit (Graceland, Moulin Rouge!) will play Danny Bailey, the town bad boy who is trouble with a capital T, especially once he sets his sights on Melissa.
  • Cameron (the Descendants film franchise) will play Betsy, the farmers daughter who instantly falls for Josh.
  • DeBose (The Prom, West Side Story) will play Emma Tate, a more modern woman and the town's teacher. She struggles to fit into the town's strict mold.
  • Camil (Jane the Virgin, Broke) will play Doc Lopez, the handsome town doctor with an icy heart.
  • Krakowski (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) will play The Countess, a stunning and sophisticated woman determined to marry Doc Lopez.
  • Harada (Avenue Q, Cinderella) will play Florence Menlove, the oblivious and dutiful wife of Mayor Menlove.
ABC's THE GOOD DOCTOR
  • Noah Galvin, Summer Brown, Bria Samoné Henderson and Brian Marc have been cast in recurring roles on the drama's upcoming fourth season. Galvin previously starred for two seasons in ABC's The Real O'Neals. Brown is a recent MFA graduate of the American Conservatory Theater. Henderson previously recurred on FX on Hulu's Mrs. America. Marc recurred on Netflix's Luke Cage.
  • Galvin will play Dr. Asher Wolke. Formerly part of an orthodox Jewish sect, he made the choice to separate himself from his former beliefs before deciding to go to medical school.
  • Brown will play Dr. Olivia Jackson, a Harvard and Oxford graduate who is oddly insecure for someone with her stellar academic credentials.
  • Henderson will play Dr. Jordan Allen, a committed and faithful Baptist, who finds strength and comfort from daily prayer. She cares for her patients - but cares even more about building her career. Not just her medical career.
  • Marc will play Dr. Enrique "Ricky" Guerin, a surfer but definitely not a slacker when it comes to his medical career. He has embraced that philosophy that, "experiences are more valuable than assets."
