AppleTV+ Gives Series Order to Comedy 'Acapulco' Starring Eugenio Derbez

AppleTV+ has today given a series order to the original comedy series Acapulco starring Eugenio Derbez, inspired by his 2017 feature film How to Be a Latin Lover.

A young Mexican man's dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime at the hottest resort in Acapulco. But he soon realizes the job is far more complicated than he ever imagined as all of his beliefs and morals start to be questioned.

Set in 1984, Derbez narrates and plays the present-day version of the main character.

Austin Winsberg (Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist) created the comedy with Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman (Half Brothers). Winsberg will serve as showrunner alongside Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother). All four will executive produce with Derebez, Benjamin Odell, Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and director Gaz Alazraki. Jason Wang will co-executive produce. Lionsgate Television, The Tannenbaum Company and 3Pas Studios will produce.
