AMC has today acquired the British drama series The Beast Must Die starring Jared Harris (Chernobyl) and Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight). The drama will be available on the linear cable channel and its streaming platform AMC+.
The 6-part drama successfully completed production in November 2020 under strict COVID-19 protocols.
Based on the novel by Nicholas Blake, the series follows a grieving mother who infiltrates the life of the man she believes killed her son.
In addition to Harris and Jumbo, the cast includes Billy Howle, Nathaniel Parker and Geraldine James.
Gaby Chiappe developed the drama, with Dome Karukoski directing. They will executive produce with David W. Zucker, Marina Brackenbury, Ed Rubin, Emma Broughton, Sarada McDermott and Nathaniel Parker. New Regency Television and Scott Free Productions will produce.
"This series will be something special for AMC and our AMC+ subscribers," said Dan McDermott, President of Original Programming, AMC Networks. "It continues a legacy of very successful relationships with the brilliant Jared Harris and our friends at Scott Free, and forges new producing partnerships with BritBox and New Regency Television. The Beast Must Die honors the novel upon which it is based with a fantastic piece of television that cuts to the heart of grief, hate, revenge and allows us to ask questions about our own humanity in a remarkably engaging and suspenseful way."
