Casting News - Peyton Elizabeth Lee to Star in 'Doogie Howser' Reboot; Holland Taylor Joins 'The Chair'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Disney+'s Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.; HBO's Succession; and Netflix's The Chair & Dear White People.





DISNEY+'s DOOGIE KAMEĀLOHA, M.D.
  • Peyton Elizabeth Lee will play the title role on the upcoming reboot of the ABC comedy. Kathleen Rose Perkins has also been cast today. Lee previously starred for three seasons in Disney Channel's Andi Mack. She also starred in the Disney+ film Secret Society of Second-Born Royals. Perkins previously starred for five seasons in Showtime's Episodes and one season in Netflix's I Am Not Okay With This.
  • Lee will play Lahela "Doogie" Kameāloha, a 16-year-old mixed-race girl who juggles a budding medical career and life as a teenager. Guiding Lahela - and also complicating things - is her family, including her spitfire Irish mother, who's also her supervisor at the hospital, and her Hawaiian "Local Boy" father who struggles to accept that his daughter is no longer his little girl.
  • Perkins will play Dr. Clara Hannon, Lahela's mother and Chief of Staff at the hospital.
NETFLIX's THE CHAIR
  • Holland Taylor has joined the cast of the upcoming dramedy starring Sandra Oh and Jay Duplass. She won an Emmy Award in 1999 for her supporting role in ABC's The Practice. She also starred for twelve seasons in CBS' Two and a Half Men, three seasons in Audience's Mr. Mercedes and in the Netflix limited series Hollywood.
  • She will play Joan Hambling, a witty, no-nonsense English professor working in the department chaired by Ji-Yoon (Oh). The two are close friends and confidants.
HBO's SUCCESSION
  • Sanaa Lathan, Linda Emond and Jihae have booked recurring roles on the drama's upcoming third season. Lathan starred for two seasons in Showtime's The Affair and in Netflix's upcoming drama Hit and Run. Emond starred for two seasons in AMC's Lodge 49. Jihae starred for two seasons in National Geographic's Mars.
  • Lathan will play Lisa Arthur, a high profile, well-connected New York lawyer.
  • Emond will play Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven, a senior White House aide.
  • Jihae will play Berry Schneider, a leading Public Relations consultant.
NETFLIX's DEAR WHITE PEOPLE
  • Karamo Brown has landed a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming fourth and final season. He currently serves as one of the co-hosts of Netflix's Queer Eye, which has been renewed for a sixth season. He also starred in the Freeform film The Thing About Harry.
  • No details were immediately announced about the character he will be playing.
