From June 17-28, 2021, voting is taking place for The 73rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. As such, it's fun to look at which actors and shows have the best chances of actually being nominated this year. So, these are my predictions for who will be nominated for Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
For Guest Actress in a Drama Series, 65 actresses were submitted for consideration. That will result in five nominees in this category when the nominations are announced on Tuesday, July 13.
Actresses most likely to be nominated:
- Alexis Bledel for Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale
- Phylicia Rashad for NBC's This Is Us
- Claire Foy for Netflix's The Crown
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
- Rosario Dawson for Disney+'s The Mandalorian
Serious threats that could break through:
- McKenna Grace, Amanda Brugel and Zawe Ashton for Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale
- Katee Sackhoff, Ming-Na Wen and Amy Sedaris for Disney+'s The Mandalorian
- Charlene Woodard for HBO's In Treatment
- Angelica Ross, Anna Maria Horsford, Jackée Harry and Noma Dumezweni for FX's Pose
- Sophie Okonedo for Netflix's Ratched
- Regina Taylor for HBO's Lovecraft Country
Some considerable long-shots:
- Diana Rigg for PBS' All Creatures Great and Small
- Loretta Devine for Starz's P-Valley
- Jennifer C. Holmes and Calah Lane for NBC's This Is Us
- Gretchen Mol for HBO's Perry Mason
- Nina Kiri, Krista Morin, Bahia Watson and Ever Carradine for Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale
- Diana Lee Inosanto, Misty Rosas and Mercedes Varnado for Disney+'s The Mandalorian
Colorful oddities who still have an outside chance:
- Lauren Weedman for HBO's Euphoria
- Jen Richards for CBS' Clarice
- Ofelia Medina for AppleTV+'s The Mosquito Coast
