AMC has today given a series order to the original drama series Dark Winds starring Zahn McClarnon (Fargo, Westworld) and Kiowa Gordon (The Red Road, Roswell, New Mexico). The first season will produce six episodes, which will debut in 2022.
Based on the Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman, the psychological thriller will follow two Navajo police officers, Joe Leaphorn (McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Gordon), in the 1970s Southwest, as their search for clues in a grisly double murder case forces them to challenge their own spiritual beliefs and come to terms with the trauma of their pasts.
Graham Roland (Jack Ryan) created the drama, with Vince Calandra serving as showrunner. They will executive produce with McClarnon, George R.R. Martin, Robert Redford, Tina Elmo, Vince Gerardis and director Chris Eyre. AMC Studios will produce.
