Casting News - Luis Guzmán to Play Gomez Addams on Netflix's 'Wednesday'; 'Euphoria' Adds Minka Kelly; Plus 3 More Updates!

Casting News - August 6, 2021

CBS' Young Sheldon; HBO's Euphoria; HBO Max's Rap Sh*t; Netflix's Wednesday; and Starz's The Serpent Queen.

STARZ's THE SERPENT QUEEN
  • Sennia Nanua has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Samantha Morton. She has previously starred in the films The Girl With All the Gifts, The Fight and Frankie.
  • She will play Rahima, the young servant girl who is assigned to wait on Catherine (Morton). She is abused and shunned by the palace staff but would prefer any such treatment to a one-on-one meeting with the evil Queen. And rightly so. We see that Catherine has an active interest in Rahima. She is not just looking for a willing ear for the defense she is making to the history books. She is intent on showing how a good, God-fearing girl like Rahima could also be corrupted to commit bad deeds if pushed around enough.
HBO's EUPHORIA
  • Minka Kelly, Dominic Fike and Demetrius "Lil Meech" Flenory Jr. have booked recurring roles on the drama's upcoming second season. Kelly currently stars in HBO Max's Titans, which returns for its third season next week. Fike is a singer-songwriter who was featured in an episode of FX's The New York Times Presents. Flenory Jr. stars in Starz's upcoming BMF, which premieres next month.
  • No details were immediately announced about the characters they will be playing.
CBS' YOUNG SHELDON
  • Wyatt McClure has been promoted to series regular for the comedy's upcoming fifth season. He has recurred on the comedy since its first season - appearing in 30 episodes overall.
  • He plays Billy Sparks, the neighbor and friend of Sheldon (Iain Armitage) and Missy Cooper (Reagan Revord).
NETFLIX's WEDNESDAY
  • Luis Guzmán will guest star on the upcoming drama starring Jenna Ortega. He previously starred for three seasons in CBS' Code Black and one season in Epix's Perpetual Grace, LTD. He has also recurred on Netflix's Narcos, Showtime's Shameless and Epix's Godfather of Harlem.
  • He will play Gomez Addams, the patriarch of the Addams family and Wednesday's (Ortega) father.
HBO MAX's RAP SH*T
  • Daniel Augustin, Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, Amandla Jahava and Jaboukie Young-White have landed recurring roles on the upcoming comedy starring Aida Osman and KaMillion. Augustin has previously recurred on OWN's David Makes Man. Chestnut has recurred on Showtime's Homeland and Freeform's Cruel Summer. Jahava will appear in HBO Max's upcoming limited series DMZ. Young-White has been a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show since 2018.
  • Augustin will play Maurice, Shawna's (Osman) friend and co-worker. He is very dapper, with great taste in clothes, but maybe not so much in women.
  • Chestnut will play Fatima, a law classmate and close friend of Shawna's boyfriend, Cliff (Devon Terrell).
  • Jahava will play Jill, Shawna's friend from college. She currently works at Spotify in New York and is big on networking new young artists, but mostly focuses on those that get traction.
  • Young-White will play Francois Boom, Shawna's former schoolmate and producer. He now produces an up-and-coming rapper who recently blew up, Reina Reign.
