Showtime has today given a series order to the original drama series Let the Right One In starring Demián Bichir (The Bridge, Grand Hotel). The 10-episode first season will begin production in New York City in early 2022.
Inspired by the original Swedish novel and film, the drama centers on Mark (Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive. With these emotionally charged and terrifying ingredients as a starting point, the drama will upend genre expectations, turning a naturalistic lens on human fragility, strength and compassion.
In addition to Bichir, the drama stars Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Madison Taylor Baez, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman and Jacob Buster.
Andrew Hinderaker wrote the pilot, which was directed by Seith Mann. They will executive produce with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements. Bichir serves as a producer, with Alissa Bachner as a co-executive producer. Tomorrow Studios produces.
