The premiere date for the upcoming thirteenth season of the original drama series Doctor Who has been announced today for its various global platforms.
The 8-episode season will premiere on Sunday, October 31 for BBC One, BBC America and BBC iPlayer.
The drama stars Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill and John Bishop.
The new season will begin the story arc that will end Whittaker's tenure as the Thirteenth Doctor. She will make her final appearance in 2022, with three feature-length specials released after the conclusion of the thirteenth season. The first special will premiere on New Year's Day, with the next two set to air later in the year.
Furthermore, the upcoming season and specials will mark the end of Chris Chibnall's time as showrunner of the veteran franchise. He will pass the helm to Russell T. Davis, who is making his return to the series after reviving the franchise in 2005. Casting for the Fourteenth Doctor remains ongoing.
