Peacock has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original drama series Bel-Air starring newcomer Jabari Banks.
The drama's first season will premiere on Super Bowl Sunday - February 13, 2022, with new episodes being released weekly every Sunday.
Set in modern-day America, the series is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the '90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that leans into the original premise: Will's (Banks) complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, the drama will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.
In addition to Banks, the drama stars Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones and Simone Joy Jones.
Morgan Cooper created the drama, with T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson serving as showrunners. They executive produce with Will Smith, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Malcolm Spellman, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, Andy Borowitz and Susan Borowitz. Universal Television and Westbrook Studios produce.
