Disney+ has today given a series order to the original drama series The Crossover starring Jalyn Hall (All American) and Amir O'Neil (Marlon). Production on the first season will resume in February.
Based on the novel by Kwame Alexander, the drama will introduce teen brothers Josh (Hall) and JB Bell (O'Neil), widely considered basketball phenomenon. Through his lyrical poetry, Josh narrates the story of their coming-of-age, on and off the court, as their former professional basketball player father adjusts to life after basketball, and their mother finally gets to pursue dreams of her own.
In addition to Hall and O'Neil, the drama stars Derek Luke, Sabrina Revelle, Skyla I'Lece, Deja Monique Cruz and Trevor Raine Bush.
Alexander and Damani Johnson wrote the pilot, which was directed by George Tillman Jr. They will executive produce with Bob Teitel, Jay Marcus, LeBron James, Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson. 20th Television and The SpringHill Company will produce.
