Hulu has today given a series order to the original musical romantic comedy series Up Here created by Steven Levenson and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel. Production on the eight episode season will begin this summer in New York City.
Set in New York City in the waning days of 1999, the series will follow the extraordinary story of one ordinary couple, as they fall in love - and discover that the single greatest obstacle to finding happiness together might just be themselves - and the treacherous world of memories, obsessions, fears and fantasies that lives inside their heads.
Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez will pen original songs for the series. Levenson will also serve as showrunner for the first season.
Levenson, Sanchez-Witzel, Lopez and Anderson-Lopez will executive produce with Jennifer Todd and director Thomas Kail. 20th Television and Old 320 Sycamore Productions will produce.
