AppleTV+ has today given a series order to the original comedy series Mrs. American Pie starring Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) and executive produced by Laura Dern (Big Little Lies). The first season will produce ten episodes.
Based on the novel by Juliet McDaniel, Maxine Simmons (Wiig) attempts to secure her seat at America's most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. As she attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have nots, Mrs. American Pie asks the questions: "Who gets a seat at the table?," "How do you get a seat at the table?" and "What will you sacrifice to get there?"
Dern is currently signed on to only executive produce the period comedy but is also eyeing a "key role" onscreen.
Abe Sylvia (George & Tammy) is writing the series, with Tate Taylor (The Help, Ma) directing. They will executive produce with Jayme Lemons, John Norris and Katie O'Connell Marsh. Apple Studios, Jaywalker Pictures, Wyolah Entertainment and Boat Rocker Media will produce.
