Casting News - Bill Nighy Boards 'The Man Who Fell to Earth'; 'That '90s Show' Sets Young Cast; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - February 3, 2022

Hulu's Immigrant; Netflix's All the Light We Cannot See & That '90s Show; and Showtime's The Man Who Fell to Earth.

NETFLIX's ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE
  • Louis Hofmann, Lars Eidinger and Nell Sutton have joined the cast of the upcoming limited series Aria Mia Loberti. Hofman previously starred for three seasons in Netflix's Dark. Eidinger starred for two seasons in Sky One's Babylon Berlin. Sutton will make her acting debut with the series.
  • Hofmann will play Werner Pfennig, a quietly pensive, handsome young German soldier who gets swept up in the brutality of war. Soulful, poetic and honorable with leading man looks, he has a strong moral compass in a complicated world.
  • Eidinger will play Sergeant Major Reinhold von Rumpel, a cruel, terminally ill Nazi officer who spends his final days ruthlessly hunting down a prized, legendary diamond believed to give its owner eternal life.
  • Sutton will play the younger version of Marie-Laure (Loberti). She is thoughtful, curious, intelligent and courageous.
NETFLIX's THAT '90S SHOW
  • Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi and Sam Morelos will co-star on the upcoming That '70s Show spinoff starring Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp. Haverda previously recurred on Hulu's Shut Eye. Aufderheide starred in ABC's one-season drama Emergence. Coronel recurred on Netflix's Colin in Black & White. Donovan starred for two seasons in Disney's Gabby Duran & the Unsittables. Doi recurred on Nickelodeon's Side Hustle. Morelos will make her acting debut with the comedy.
  • Haverda will play Leia Forman. Smart like her mom and snarky like her dad, she is craving adventure. She's just not quite sure where or how to start. Until she discovers a best friend in the most unlikely of places: next door to her grandparents' (Smith, Rupp) house in Point Place.
  • Aufderheide will play Gwen. Life gets more interesting for Leia when she meets this Riot Grrrl. Equal parts loyalty, rebellion and heart, she is a dynamic powerhouse and the unofficial leader of the new generation of Point Place kids. Love Gwen. Fear her. Follow her.
  • Coronel will play Jay. He is charming and flirty - at least, he tries. It doesn't always come out right. When he's not hanging out with his best friend Nate or working at the local video store, he's armed with a video camera and the whole world is his film set.
  • Donovan will play Nate. The polar opposite of his little sister, Gwen. He takes life as it comes, usually with a big open smile. He lets the gang ride in his van because there's always something fun on the other side of the drive. He loves his family, his girlfriend and Garth Brooks.
  • Doi will play Ozzie. Everyone loves them some Ozzie. He's insightful, sarcastic and has perspective beyond his years. He is gay and impatient with the world for not being as accepting as his friends.
  • Morelos will play Nikki. She is focused, smart and driven. From the outside, you could easily see her becoming a doctor or a lawyer. But inside, she has more rebellion than a frustrated debutante and her boyfriend Nate can scratch that itch.
HULU's IMMIGRANT
  • Quentin Plair and Nicola Peltz have landed recurring roles on the upcoming limited series starring Kumail Nanjiani. Plair previously recurred on Showtime's The Good Lord Bird and The CW's Roswell, New Mexico. Peltz starred for two seasons in A&E's Bates Motel.
  • Plair will play Otis, the sole black dancer at Chippendales' LA outpost until a dramatic falling out with its owner Somen "Steve" Banerjee (Nanjiani) over the club's questionable admission policies regarding race.
  • Peltz will play Dorothy Stratten. Both sexy and wholesome, she is managed by her sleazy husband, was a Playboy Playmate, actress, and, least likely of all, a key player in the founding of the male strip club Chippendales.
SHOWTIME's THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH
  • Bill Nighy will succeed David Bowie in the role of Thomas Newton in the upcoming limited series starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris. Bowie played the character in the 1976 film of the same name. Nighy reunites with his co-stars Ejiofor and Harris. He worked with Ejiofor in the 2003 film Love Actually. He and Harris starred in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise together.
  • In the limited series, the brilliant Thomas Newton was the first alien to arrive on Earth over 40 years ago. Alone and desperate, he summons Faraday (Ejiofor) to complete his original mission. But Newton's time marooned among human beings has cost him everything, possibly even his sanity.
