The limited series will premiere on Sunday, April 24 at 9/8c.
Based on the Slate podcast Slow Burn, the series tells the story of Martha Mitchell (Roberts), the wife of President Richard Nixon's loyal Attorney General, John Mitchell (Penn), who is the first person to publicly sound the alarm on Nixon's involvement in Watergate. The series focuses on the untold stories and forgotten characters of the scandal - from Nixon's bumbling and opportunistic subordinates to the deranged zealots aiding and abetting their crimes to the tragic whistleblowers who would eventually bring the whole rotten enterprise crashing down.
In addition to Penn and Roberts, the cast features Dan Stevens, Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham, Darby Camp, Allison Tolman, J.C. MacKenzie, Chris Bauer, Hamish Linklater, Chris Messina, Patton Oswalt, Nat Faxon, Erinn Hayes, Patrick Walker, Carlos Valdes, Raphael Sbarge, Anne Dudek, Chris Conner, Brian Geraghty, Nelson Franklin, Reed Diamond, Johnny Berchtold, Adam Ray and Billy Smith.
