Hulu has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original limited series The Girl From Plainville and the second season of its original comedy series Woke.
The 8-episode limited series The Girl From Plainville will premiere on Tuesday, March 29 with its first three episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Tuesday.
The series is inspired by the true story of Michelle Carter's unprecedented "texting-suicide" case and based on the Esquire article of the same name by Jesse Barron. The series will explore Carter's relationship with Conrad Roy III and the events that led to his death and, later, her conviction of involuntary manslaughter.
The cast includes Elle Fanning, Chloë Sevigny, Colton Ryan, Cara Buono, Kai Lennox and Norbert Leo Butz.
Liz Hannah and Patrick Macmanus developed the series. They executive produce with Fanning, Brittany Kahan Ward and director Lisa Cholodenko. Barron serves as a consulting producer. Universal Content Productions, Echo Lake Entertainment and Littleton Road Productions produce.
All 10 episodes of the second season of Woke will be available on Friday, April 8.
Cartoonist Keef Knight is now a popular activist on the rise, but he's facing a world where "woke" has become big business. Can Keef and his friends bring about real change, or is it just about the dollars? And can Keef navigate this new world without destroying what he's become? Inspired by the life and work of artist Keith Knight, Woke continues to upend Black nerd and activist culture, deftly satirizing with a wink and a smile.
The comedy stars Lamorne Morris, T. Murphy, Blake Anderson, Sasheer Zamata and JB Smoove.
Knight co-created the comedy with Marshall Todd. They executive produce with Anthony King, Maurice Marable, Richie Schwartz, John Will, Will Gluck and Eric Christian Olsen. ABC Signature and Sony Pictures Television produce.
