Development News - Skylar Astin to Play Male Lead Opposite Geena Davis in CBS Drama Pilot; Plus 2 More Updates!

Development News - March 14, 2022

ABC's Josep; CBS' Untitled Scott Prendergast; and The CW's Walker: Independence.

ABC's JOSEP
  • Kaden Alejandro has been cast as a series regular on the comedy pilot starring Jo Koy. He previously guest starred on ABC's The Rookie, FOX's 9-1-1: Lone Star and Peacock's Bel-Air.
  • He will play Miles, the son of Jo (Koy) and Cheryl. He is comfortable with the idea of his parents' divorce - in fact, he appears to be the most well-adjusted member of the entire family. Miles has very little interest in traditional Filipino culture; his dad raised him on hip-hp, and he prefers orange chicken to any Filipino dish. His grandmother Lorna (Mia Katigbak) plans to become a strong Filipino presence in his too-Americanized life.
THE CW's WALKER: INDEPENDENCE
  • Philemon Chambers and Greg Hovanessian will co-star on the drama pilot starring Matt Barr. Chambers recently starred in the Netflix film Single All the Way. Hovanessian recurred on Spike's The Mist and Netflix's Another Life.
  • Chambers will play Augustus aka Gus, a striking Black man with eyes filled with a world of experience. He is the deputy sheriff in Independence, Texas. Polite, careful, even-tempered and genuinely willing to help, he's not giving out his opinion on his new boss, Tom Davidson, to anyone.
  • Hovanessian will play Tom Davidson, the new Sheriff in Independence. He's handsome for someone you don't know is the devil. And Abby has reason to believe Tom is a very bad man indeed. Quick to take over Abby's late husband Liam's job, Tom is now a smiling power in the town.
CBS' UNTITLED SCOTT PRENDERGAST PROJECT
  • Skylar Astin will play the male lead opposite Geena Davis in the drama pilot written by Scott Prendergast. He previously starred in the Pitch Perfect film franchise and for two seasons in NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. He will be seen recurring on the 18th season of ABC's Grey's Anatomy.
  • He will play Todd, the "problem child" of his family and a disappointment to Joan (Davis), his super-achieving mom. He is a former private detective who lost his license after some messy misunderstandings. Quick on his feet - and a little too quick to resort to lying in order to get what he needs - Todd may be unorthodox, but he is impressively good at what he does. A master of tech, scrappy surveillance and social media.
