HBO Sets Premiere Date for 'Game of Thrones' Prequel 'House of the Dragon' Starring Paddy Considine

HBO has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon starring Paddy Considine.







The 10-episode first season will premiere on Sunday, August 21 at 9/8c.

Based on the novel Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, the drama is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.

In addition to Considine, the drama stars Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D'Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans.

Recurring guest stars include Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes and Savannah Steyn.

Martin co-created the drama with Ryan Condal, who serves as co-showrunner alongside director Miguel Sapochnik. All three executive produce with Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmidt.
