HBO has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original limited series Irma Vep starring Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl).
The limited series will debut on Monday, June 6 at 9/8c.
Disillusioned by her career and a recent breakup, American movie star Mira (Vikander) comes to France to star as "Irma Vep" in a remake of the French silent film classic Les Vampires. Set against the backdrop of a lurid crime thriller, Mira struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge. The series reveals to us the uncertain ground that lies at the border of fiction and reality, artifice and authenticity, art and life.
In addition to Vikander, the cast includes Vincent Macaigne, Jeanne Balibar, Devon Ross, Lars Eidinger, Vincent Lacoste, Nora Hamzawi, Adria Arjona, Carrie Brownstein, Tom Sturridge, Byron Bowers, Fala Chen, Hippolyte Girardot, Alex Descas and Antoine Reinartz.
Olivier Assayas created the series and directed every episode. He executive produces with Vikander, Sylvie Barthet, Daniel Delume, Ravi Nandan, Hallie Sekoff, Kevin Turen, Stuart Manashil, Sam Levinson and Ashley Levinson. A24 produces.
