ABC Hands Series Orders to Dramas 'Alaska' & 'The Rookie: Feds' and Comedy 'Not Dead Yet'

ABC has today given series order to the original drama series Alaska and The Rookie: Feds as well as the original comedy series Not Dead Yet. All three series will join the broadcast network's upcoming 2022-23 schedule.

Alaska will follow Eileen Fitzgerald, a recently disgraced reporter who leaves her high-profile New York life behind to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption.

The drama will star Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, Matt Malloy, Meredith Holzman, Grace Dove, Pablo Castelblanco, Ami Park and Craig Frank.

Tom McCarthy wrote and directed the pilot. He will executive produce with Swank, Melissa Wells, Bert Salke, Ryan Binkley and Kyle Hopkins. 20th Television will produce.

A spinoff of The Rookie, the new drama The Rookie: Feds will center on Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy. The story was introduced as a two-part event during the fourth season of The Rookie.

The drama will star Niecy Nash-Betts, Frankie Faison and Felix Solis. Kat Foster appeared in the backdoor pilot but will not continue in the series.

Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter created the drama. They will executive produce with Nash-Betts, Nathan Fillion, Mark Gordon, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross and Corey Miller. ABC Signature and Entertainment One will produce.

Based on the novel Confessions of a 40-Something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter, new comedy Not Dead Yet will center on Nell Stevens, a broke and newly single self-described disaster, working to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago. When she lands the only job she can find - writing obituaries - Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

The comedy will star Gina Rodriguez, Josh Banday and Angela Gibbs.

Jessica St. Clair, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Rick Glassman also starred in the pilot but their roles will be recast.

Casey Johnson and David Windsor wrote the pilot, which was directed by Dean Holland. They will executive produce with Rodriguez, McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh. 20th Television and Wonderland Sound & Vision will produce.
