After airing only five episodes, The CW has today announced the cancellation of its original drama series Tom Swift. The news comes after soft linear ratings, though CBS Studios is expected to shop the series to other outlets.
The drama stars Tian Richards, Ashleigh Murray, Marquise Vilsón, Albert Mwangi and April Parker Jones.
Noga Landau, Melinda Hsu Taylor and Cameron Johnson developed the drama. They executive produce with Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Lis Rowinski. CBS Studios, Fake Empire and Furious Productions produce.
The cancellation comes as Nexstar is finalizing a deal to acquire a majority stake in The CW. As a result, more shows have been axed this year as the future of programming and the network's ambitions are unclear. Tom Swift is a spinoff of The CW's Nancy Drew, which returns for its fourth season in 2023.
