Netflix has today given a series order to the original dark comedy series Bodkin starring Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth, MacGruber). Production on the 7-episode season will begin next week in Ireland.
The darkly comedic thriller will center on a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town. But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined. As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction - about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves - the series will challenge our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.
In addition to Forte, the cast will feature Siobhan Cullen, Robyn Cara, David Wilmot and Chris Walley.
Jez Scharf created the series and will serve as co-showrunner alongside Alex Metcalf. They will executive produce with Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, David Flynn, Paul Lee, Tonia Davis and Nne Ebong. Nash Edgerton will direct. Higher Ground Productions and wiip will produce.
