Despite previously being renewed for a third season, Paramount+ has today opted to cancel its original anthology series Why Women Kill after two seasons. The series concluded its second (and now final) installment on July 29, 2021.
Paramount+ released the following statement on the renewal reversal: "Paramount+ has made the difficult decision not to move forward with Season 3 of Why Women Kill. We would like to thank our partners at CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studios; the amazing creator and showrunner Marc Cherry; and the incredible writers, cast and crew for two memorable seasons."
Marc Cherry created the anthology format. He executive produced with Brian Grazer, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Marc Webb, Samie Kim Falvey, Francie Calfo and David Warren. CBS Studios, Imagine Television and Acme Productions produced.
The streaming service ordered a third season of the anthology series in December 2021. The new season was currently in the early stages of pre-production when the cancellation news came down. No actors were currently attached to star - though negotiations had already started, with production slated to start soon.
