AppleTV+ has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original drama series Shantaram starring Charlie Hunnam.
The 12-episode first season will launch on Friday, October 14 with its first three episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Friday until the season finale on December 16.
Based on the novel by Gregory David Roberts, fugitive Lin Ford (Hunnam) looks to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. Alone in an unfamiliar city, he struggles to avoid the trouble he's running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.
In addition to Hunnam, the drama stars Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, Alyy Khan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph and Shiv Palekar.
Steve Lightfoot and Eric Warren Singer developed the drama. They executive produce with Andrea Barron, Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin, Justin Kurzel and director Bharat Nalluri. Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content and AC Studios produce.
