Starz has today decided to cancel its original drama series Dangerous Liaisons after one season. Today's announcement comes after the premium cable network ordered a second season days before the show made its series debut. Lackluster ratings ultimately led to reversing that decision.
The drama stars Alice Englert, Nicholas Denton, Kosar Ali, Carice Van Houten, Hilton Pelser, Fisayo Akinade, Michael McElhatton, Nathanael Saleh, Colette Dalal Tchantcho, Hakeem Kae-Kazim and Tom Wlaschiha.
Harriet Warner created the drama. She executive produces with Colin Callender, Tony Krantz, Bethan Jones, Scott Huff and Christopher Hampton. Lionsgate Television, Playground Entertainment and Flame Ventures produce.
The drama originally received a second season pickup on November 1 - ahead of the series premiere on November 6. That decision was made based on the strength of the show's creative decision amongst the network executives. However, the first season has failed to connect with viewers both linearly and digitally. That prompted the cancellation today as Starz embarks on financial tightening as Lionsgate prepares to separate its studio and the network.
