HBO Max has today decided to cancel its original drama series Gossip Girl after two seasons. The second season finale on January 26, 2023 will now serve as the drama's final episode.
HBO Max released the following statement on the cancellation: "We are very grateful to showrunner/executive producer Joshua Safran, and executive producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz for bringing us back to the Upper East Side and all the scandals at Constance Billard. Although we are not moving forward with a third season of Gossip Girl, we thank them for the enticing love triangles, calculated backstabbing and impeccable fashion this series brought to a new audience."
The drama starred Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak, Savannah Lee Smith, Johnathan Fernandez, Adam Chanler-Berat, Todd Almond, Laura Benanti, Grace Duah and Megan Ferguson.
Joshua Safran developed the drama based on The CW show that aired from 2007-2012. He executive produced with original series creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage as well as Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. Lis Rowinski served as co-executive producer. Warner Bros. Television, CBS Studios, Fake Empire, Random Acts and Alloy Entertainment produced.
