DC Studios co-chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran today laid out their plans for the new DC banner they lead across film, television and animation. They announced five films and five television projects - which are actively in development at HBO Max.
Creature Commandos is a seven-episode animated show in which Amanda Waller creates a black ops team out of monstrous prisoners.
Gunn has written all the episodes of the first season already.
Waller centers on the mercurial and political Amanda Waller (played by Oscar and Emmy Award winner Viola Davis), a senior civil servant and director of ARGUS.
Christal Henry and Jeremy Carver are writing the series. Characters from 2021's The Suicide Squad and its HBO Max spinoff Peacemaker are expected to also appear alongside Davis.
Booster Gold features the titular character using basic technology from the future to pretend to be a superhero in present day.
Lanterns is an enormous TV event series following intergalactic cops John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they uncover a dark mystery.
Paradise Lost is set in Themyscira, home of the Amazons and birthplace of Wonder Woman. The series focuses on the genesis and political intrigue of an island of all women.
Writers were not announced for Booster Gold, Lanterns and Paradise Lost. Elsewhere, Gunn remains committed to another season of Peacemaker. However, he has chosen to prioritize other projects in the DC universe before returning to that particular series.
