During the streamer's presentation today at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, Paramount+ announced the premiere date for its upcoming original comedy series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies - a prequel to the film franchise.
The 10-episode first season will debut on Thursday, April 6. New episodes will then be released weekly every Thursday.
The musical series takes place four years before the original film Grease; in 1954 before rock 'n' roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up outcasts dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.
The cast includes Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Shanel Bailey, Madison Thompson, Johnathan Nieves, Jason Schmidt, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper and Jackie Hoffman.
Annabel Oakes developed the comedy. She executive produces with Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Adam Fishbach, Alethea Jones, Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey. Jamal Sims choreographs the musical numbers, with Justin Tranter serving as executive music producer. Paramount Television Studios, Picturestart and Temple Hill Entertainment produce.
