Amazon has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original drama series The Power starring Toni Collette.
The 8-episode first season will launch on Friday, March 31 with its first two episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Friday until its season finale on May 12.
Based on the novel by Naomi Alderman, the drama is set in our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, teenage girls develop the power to electrocute people at will. The series features a cast of remarkable characters from London to Seattle, Nigeria to Eastern Europe, as the Power evolves from a tingle in teenagers' collarbones to a complete reversal of the power balance of the world.
In addition to Collette, the drama stars John Leguizamo, Auli'i Cravalho, Toheeb Jimoh, Josh Charles, Eddie Marsan, Ria Zmitrowicz, Zrinka Cvitešić, Halle Bush and Allie Montgomery.
Alderman developed the drama, with Raelle Tucker serving as showrunner. They executive produce with Jane Featherstone and Naomi de Pear. Amazon Studios and Sister produce.
