FX has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original limited series Great Expectations starring Fionn Whitehead and Olivia Colman.
The 6-episode season will premiere on Sunday, March 26 exclusively under FX's banner on Hulu with its first two episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Sunday.
Based on the novel by Charles Dickens, the series details the coming-of-age story of Pip (Whitehead), an orphan who yearns for a greater lot in life, until a twist of fate and the evil machinations of the mysterious and eccentric Miss Havisham (Colman) shows him a dark world of possibilities. Under the great expectations placed upon him, Pip will have to work out the true cost of this new world and whether it will truly make him the man he wishes to be.
In addition to Whitehead and Colman, the series stars Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, Trystan Gravelle, Laurie Ogden, Rudi Dharmalingam, Tom Sweet, Chloe Lea and Matt Berry.
Steven Knight developed the drama. He executive produces with Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker, David W. Zucker and Kate Crowe. FX Productions, Scott Free Productions and Hardy Son & Baker produce in association with the BBC.
