Freevee has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original comedy series Jury Duty starring James Marsden.
The 8-episode first season will launch on Friday, April 7 with its first two episodes. Two new episodes will then be released weekly every Friday until the season finale on April 21.
The multi-camera comedy chronicles the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one particular juror, Ronald Gladden. He is unaware the entire case is fake, everyone except him is an actor - including Marsden playing an alternate version of himself - and everything that happens inside the courtroom and out is carefully planned.
In addition to Marsden, the comedy stars Alan Barinholtz, Susan Berger, Cassandra Blair, Rashida "Sheedz" Olayiwola, David Brown, Kirk Fox, Ross Kimball, Pramode Kumar, Trisha LaFache, Mekki Leeper, Brandon Loeser, Edy Modica, Kerry O'Neill, Whitney Rice, Maria Russell, Ishmel Sahid, Ben Seaward, Ron Song and Evan Williams.
Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky created the comedy, with Cody Heller serving as showrunner. They executive produce with Todd Schulman, David Bernard, Ruben Fleischer, Nicholas Hatton, Andrew Weinberg and director Jake Szymanski.
