The CW has today acquired the stateside rights to the Canadian drama series The Spencer Sisters starring Lea Thompson (Switched at Birth) and Stacey Farber (Superman & Lois). The first season will air on the broadcast network this fall.
The female-led, lighthearted procedural follows mystery novelist Victoria Spencer (Thompson) and her daughter Darby Spencer (Farber) who are mistaken as sisters as they tackle puzzling cases.
The cast also features Thomas Antony Olajide, Edward Ruttle, Husein Madhavji, Ayesha Manusr Gonsalves, Rodrigo Massa, Kaitlyn Leeb and Adam Hurtig.
Alan McCullough created the drama and serves as co-showrunner alongside Jenn Engels. They executive produce with Jocelyn Hamilton, Tecca Crosby, Phyllis Laing and Jennifer Beasley. Entertainment One and Buffalo Gal Pictures produce.
"The Spencer Sisters is a charming new drama series led by the unforgettable Lea Thompson and rising star Stacey Farber," said Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, The CW. "We are thrilled to welcome this dynamic pair to The CW this fall in an entertaining procedural that will appeal to multiple generations of amateur sleuths."
