Paramount Network has today announced that the fifth season of its original drama Yellowstone will be its last. However, an untitled spinoff created by Taylor Sheridan has been ordered at the network.
Yellowstone is slated to conclude with its epic, final cycle in November 2023. The new series will then follow with a December 2023 debut. However, these tentative dates could be pushed back depending on when production can start and the extent of the scripts written by Sheridan before the writers' strike shutting down projects across the industry.
Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Gil Birmingham, Forrie J. Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Ryan Bingham, Finn Little, Wendy Moniz, Jennifer Landon, Kathryn Kelly and Moses Brings Plenty.
Sheridan executive produces with Costner, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay and Christina Voros. MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios produces.
More details about the spinoff will be announced at a later. It's speculated that Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey is in negotiations to star.
"Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits - from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life," said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.
