Showtime's 'Billions' to End After 7 Seasons

Showtime has today announced that the upcoming seventh season of its original drama series Billions will be its last. Moreover, the premium cable network has shared the premiere date for the final season.

The 12-episode seventh and final season will debut on Sunday, August 13 at 8/7c. New episodes will be available to stream early every Friday at midnight before their linear debuts on Sunday.

In the new season, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.

The drama stars Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Dola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey, Daniel Breaker and Toney Goins.

Damian Lewis returns as a recurring guest star in the final season. He was the drama's original co-lead opposite Giamatti but left the cast during the fifth season finale.

Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin created the drama. Koppelman and Levien serve as executive producers and showrunners alongside Beth Schacter.

"Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian and David," said Chris McCarthy, President and CEO, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. "This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise."
