Disney+ Sets Premiere Date for New Drama 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Starring Walker Scobell

Disney+ has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original drama series Percy Jackson and the Olympians based on the book series of the same name by Rick Riordan.






The 8-episode first season will launch on Wednesday, December 20 with its first two episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Wednesday.

The drama tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

The series stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri.

Guest stars include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Megan Mullally, Toby Stephens, Virginia Kull, Jason Mantzoukas, Jay Duplass, Glynn Turman, Lance Reddick, Adam Copeland, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Olivea Morton, Suzanne Cryer, Timm Sharp and Timothy Omundson.

Riordan co-created the drama with Jon Steinberg, who serves as showrunner for the first season alongside Dan Shotz. All three executive produce with Rebecca Riordan, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engström and Jet Wilkinson. 20th Television and The Gotham Group produce.
