AppleTV+ has today given a series order to the original drama series Murderbot starring Emmy winner Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies, Succession). The first season will produce 10 episodes.
Based on the novels by Martha Wells, a self-hacking security android is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable "clients." Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
Chris and Paul Weitz will write and direct the drama. They will executive produce with Skarsgård, Andrew Miano, David S. Goyer and Keith Levine. Wells will serve as a consulting producer. Paramount Television Studios, Depth of Field and Phantom Four will produce.
