Netflix has today renewed its original animated series Blue Eye Samurai for a second season. An episode count and premiere date window were not immediately announced.
The voice cast features Maya Erskine, George Takei, Masi Oka, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Song, Darren Barnet, Randall Park, Kenneth Branagh, Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, Harry Shum Jr. and Mark Dacascos.
Michael Green and Amber Noizumi created the series. They executive produce with Erwin Stoff. Jane Wu serves as supervising producer and director. Blue Spirit produces in association with Netflix.
"When we started this project, we made a commitment to take this very personal story set in Edo-period Japan and bring it to life in the most authentic and beautiful way possible," said Green and Noizumi. "Our animators, historians, musicians, martial artists and voice cast made this a reality beyond our expectations. We are thankful to our entire team and to our viewers from all over the world who have shown such passion for Mizu and her path of revenge. Mizu has a lot more blood to spill! We are deeply grateful to our incredible partners at Netflix for letting the journey continue."
The 8-episode first season was released on the streamer on November 3, 2023.
