Ryan Murphy Unveils New FX Drama 'Grotesquerie' Starring Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville

FX has today given a series order to the original drama series Grotesquerie created by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Feud). Production will begin shortly for a premiere this fall.






Murphy announced the series earlier today with a teaser video on Instagram. Furthermore, the drama will star Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville.

No details about the drama's plot or the characters the trio of actors will be playing were revealed.

Nash-Betts and Vance won Emmy Awards for their previous collaborations with Murphy. Last month, Nash-Betts won the award for her supporting performance in Netflix's Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. In 2016, Vance prevailed for his lead performance in FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. These were the first Primetime Emmy Awards for both actors.

Additionally, Nash-Betts starred for eight seasons in Comedy Central's Reno 911!, five seasons in TV Land's The Soul Man, three seasons in HBO's Getting On, four seasons in TNT's Claws, in the Netflix limited series When They See Us and in ABC's one-season drama The Rookie: Feds. She received an additional three Emmy Award nominations for her performances in Getting On and When They See Us.

Furthermore, Vance starred for five seasons in NBC's Law & Order: Criminal Intent, in the third season of National Geographic's Genius, and two seasons in AMC's 61st Street. He won an additional Emmy Award in 2021 for his guest role on HBO's Lovecraft Country

The drama marks the first collaboration between Murphy and Manville. The actress was nominated for an Academy Award in 2017 for her supporting performance in Phantom Thread. She recently starred for three seasons in BBC Two's Mum, three seasons in Hulu's Harlots, two seasons in BBC One's World on Fire, two seasons in Netflix's The Crown and in the first season of Amazon's Citadel. She will next star in AppleTV+'s upcoming limited series Disclaimer opposite Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline.
