Netflix Picks Up Limited Series 'Death by Lightning' Starring Michael Shannon and Matthew Macfadyen

Netflix has today given a series order to the original limited series Death by Lightning starring Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road, Nocturnal Animals) and Emmy Award winner Matthew Macfadyen (Succession). 

Based on the novel "Destiny of the Republic" by Candice Millard, the series will bring to life the epic and stranger-than-fiction true story of James Garfield (Shannon), the reluctant 20th President of the United States, and his greatest admirer Charles Guiteau (Macfadyen) - the man who would come to kill him.

Mike Makowsky developed the series. He will executive produce with David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Bernie Caulfield and director Matt Ross.
