Netflix has today announced the premiere date for its upcoming original animated comedy series Good Times based on the CBS sitcom of the same name.
The entire first season will be available on Friday, April 12.
In this edgy, irreverent reimagining of the TV classic, a new generation of the Evans family keeps their head above water in a Chicago housing project.
The voice cast features Jay Pharoah, Yvette Nicole Brown, Marsai Martin, Gerald Anthony "Slink" Johnson, JB Smoove, Norman Lear, Rashia Olayiwola, Venus DeMilo Thomas and Jessica Mikayla.
Carl Jones created the series, with Ranada Shepard serving as showrunner. They executive produce with Lear, Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, Brent Miller, Erick Peyton and Stephen Curry. Sony Pictures Television, Fuzzy Door Productions, Act III Productions and Unanimous Media produce.
The original series starring Esther Rolle and John Amos aired for six seasons between February 1974 and August 1979. Lear developed the original series created by Eric Monte and Mike Evans.
