Just three episodes into its current landmark season, ABC has today renewed its original drama series Grey's Anatomy for 21st season. The drama will return as part of the broadcast network's upcoming 2024-25 schedule.
The drama stars Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Kim Raver, Jake Borelli, Chris Carmack, Anthony Hill, Alexis Floyd, Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, Midori Francis and Niko Terho.
Veteran executive producer Meg Marinis took over the reins as showrunner of the drama at the start of Season 20. ABC Signature and Shondaland produce.
"The loyalty and love of Grey's Anatomy fans has propelled us into a historic 21st season, and I could not be more grateful," said series creator Shonda Rhimes. "Meg Marinis' storytelling is a gift that continues to keep the show vibrant, compelling and alive, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for next season."
Today's renewal comes shortly after Hulu acquired the rights to stream every episode of the medical drama. Previously, Netflix had exclusive streaming rights to all 19 former seasons while Hulu had exclusive next-day availability of all in-season episodes. Now, 19 seasons are still available on Netflix while Hulu has access to the entire catalogue. Grey's Anatomy has continually ranked as one of the most streamed series annually.
