Casting News - June 25, 2024

Amazon's Young Sherlock; The CW's All American; MGM+'s Earth Abides; and Netflix's One Piece.

THE CW's ALL AMERICAN
  • Daniel Ezra will be departing the cast of the drama as a series regular at the conclusion of its current sixth season. He is expected to make guest appearances during the already announced seventh season. Ezra has starred in the drama as its lead character Spencer James since its series debut in October 2018. Ezra has also directed several episodes of the series - including its 100th episode last month.
  • In the drama's most recent episode (which aired yesterday), Spencer was drafted into the NFL. The episode concluded with a time jump that saw Spencer in action at the Super Bowl and proposing to Olivia (Samantha Logan). The final two episodes of the season will see the couple planning their wedding.
  • Ezra explained, "After making the difficult decision to leave All American, my sole focus became completing the journey on the most life-affirming character I've ever played in the manner he deserves. Thanks to Nkechi and the writers, I got my wish. Season six is 'Spencer's goodbye.' I'll miss him. I'll miss our cast and crew. I hope it's been as fun to watch him as it has been to play him."
