At San Diego Comic-Con, Amazon announced the series order for an original prequel series to The Boys - titled Vought Rising starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash. The order marks the fourth series in the expanding universe that started with The Boys.
Both Ackles and Cash starred on the original series. Cash was prominently featured in the series regular role of Stormfront in Season 2 and returned as a guest star in Season 3. Meanwhile, Ackles joined the cast as a series regular as Soldier Boy in Season 3. He made a cameo appearance in the Season 4 finale and will return as a series regular in the upcoming fifth and final season. Moreover, Ackles and Cash will serve as producers on the spinoff.
Paul Grellong created the prequel. He will executive produce with The Boys creator Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson and Michaela Starr. Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures and Original Film will produce.
"We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys," said Kripke and Grellong. "It's a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe know to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V."
