Peacock Gives Series Order to Drama 'PONIES' Starring Emilia Clarke

Peacock has today given a series order to the original drama series PONIES starring Emmy Award-nominated actress Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones). An episode count and premiere date window were not immediately announced.





Set in Moscow 1977, two "PONIES" ("persons of no interest" in intelligence speak) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operates. Bea (Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila, is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.

David Iserson and Susanna Fogel co-created the drama, with Iserson serving as showrunner and Fogel also directing. They will executive produce with Clarke and Jessica Rhoades. Katherine Bridle and Alison Mo Massey will co-executive produce. Universal Television and Pacesetter Productions will produce.
