Hulu has today decided to cancel two of its original scripted series - drama Black Cake after one season and comedy UnPrisoned after two seasons.
Black Cake starred Chipo Chung, Mia Isaac, Adrienne Warren, Ashley Thomas, Lashay Anderson, Faith Alabi, Ahmed Elhaj and Glynn Turman.
Marissa Jo Cerar developed the drama based on the novel by Charmaine Wilkerson. She executive produced with Oprah Winfrey, Aleksander Krutainis, Carla Gardini and Brian Morewitz. ABC Signature, Harpo Films and Kapital Entertainment produced.
The 8-episode first season was released between November 1 and December 6, 2023.
UnPrisoned starred Kerry Washington, Delroy Lindo, Marque Richardson, Faly Rakotohavana, Jee Young Han and Jordyn McIntosh.
Tracy McMillan created the comedy. She executive produced with Washington, Lindo, Pilar Savone, Yvette Lee Bowser, Joy Gorman Wettels, Jen Braeden and Kevin Bray. ABC Signature, Onyx Collective, Anonymous Content, SisterLee Productions and Simpson Street produced.
The 8-episode first season was released on March 10, 2023 while the 8-episode second season arrived on July 17, 2024.
