Peacock has today given a series order to the original comedy series The Burbs based on the 1989 feature film of the same name. Production will occur on the same Hollywood lot at Universal Studios as the film.
Set in present-day suburbia, the series will follow a young couple returning to the husband's childhood home. Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.
Emmy Award winner Keke Palmer (Nope, Password) will star in the series.
Celeste Hughey developed the series. She will executive produce with Palmer, Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, Aimee Carlson, Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner and Natalie Berkus. Dana Olsen will co-executive produce. Universal Content Productions, Fuzzy Door Productions and Imagine Entertainment will produce.
