AppleTV+ Renews 'Sugar' for Season 2

AppleTV+ has today renewed its original drama series Sugar for a second season. An episode count and premiere date window were not immediately announced.

After the events of season one, season two will see Detective John Sugar find himself back in Los Angeles taking on another missing person's case, as he continues to look for answers surrounding his missing sister.

Academy Award-nominee Colin Farrell has officially signed on to reprise his role as Sugar.

The ensemble cast in the first season featured Kirby, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler and Alex Hernandez. It's unclear if any of these actors will return for season two.

Mark Protosevich created the drama, with Sam Catlin taking over as showrunner for the second season. They executive produce with Farrell, Audrey Chon, Simon Kinberg, Scott Greenberg and Chip Vucelich. Apple Studios, Genre Films and Short Drive Entertainment produce.

"Since its premiere, audiences have been gripped by the mysteries and twists of Sugar, with an incredible performance by Colin Farrell at the center," said Matt Cherniss, Head of Programming, AppleTV+. "Colin, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and the entire team behind this series have brilliantly blended genres to create a compelling, can't-miss series that keeps viewers guessing, and we cannot wait to see where Detective John Sugar finds himself in season two."
