Max Cancels 'Velma' After Two Seasons

Max has today decided to cancel its original animated comedy series Velma after two seasons. The cancellation comes just a week after the streamer released the show's Halloween special.

Max released the following statement on the cancellation: "Over the past two seasons, Mindy and Charlie have created and incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise. While we won't be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks."

The comedy's voice cast featured Mindy Kaling, Glenn Howerton, Sam Richardson and Constance Wu.

Kaling co-developed the series with Charlie Grandy based on the iconic Scooby-Doo franchise. They executive produced with Howard Klein, Sam Register and Elijah Aron. Warner Bros. Animation, Kaling International, Charlie Grandy Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment produced.

The 10-episode first season was released weekly in January and February 2023. Meanwhile, the 10-episode second season dropped as a binge on April 25, 2024. The Halloween special debuted on October 3, 2024.
