During the show's panel today at New York Comic Con, Paramount+ handed an early renewal to its original drama series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for a second season. The show is currently in production on its first season, which does not yet have a premiere date.
The drama stars Holly Hunter, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner, Sandro Rosta, Tig Notaro and Robert Picardo.
Recurring guest stars include Paul Giamatti, Gina Yashere, Mary Wiseman and Oded Fehr.
Furthermore, the panel revealed that Emmy Award winner Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) has been cast in a recurring role for the first seasons. No details were shared about her role though.
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau developed the drama. They executive produce with Gaia Violo, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber. CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment produce.
