AppleTV+ has today given a series order to the original drama series Cape Fear starring Academy Award winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men). The first season will produce 10 episodes.
A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Amanda and Steve Bowden when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison. The tense, Hitchcockian thriller offers an examination of America's obsession with true crime in the 21st century.
Nick Antosca developed the drama. He will executive produce with Bardem, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Alex Hedlund, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. Universal Content Productions, Amblin Television and Eat the Cat will produce.
The drama is based on the 1957 novel "The Executioners" by John D. MacDonald. The novel has been adapted as a feature film twice - first in 1962 starring Gregory Peck and again in 1991 starring Robert De Niro and directed by Scorsese.
